Knights in shining armor have donned their best battle gear and sharpened their swords for the Tenth World Historic Medieval Battle Championship, with the action hotting up at a fortress in Serbia's Smederevo on Saturday.

The event harks back to the brutal Middle Ages, though competitors decked out in full regalia also don protective equipment to ensure they don't meet a truly ghastly end.
